AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR SPECIAL NEEDS

After-School Program for Special Needs (Ages 4-18)


Our After-School Program is designed for special needs children and teens who have learning delays in more than one area of development.

After-school programs at RMA LLC positively impact students with special needs in key areas and provide opportunities to increase their skills while building on their potential. Hence, studies show that students with special needs who participate in after-school programs have; higher academic achievement, improved school attendance, higher aspirations, improved social competence and improved behavior.





Schedule


3:00 – 3:30 pm Snack
3:30 – 4:00 pm Social Skills Groups
4:00 – 4:45 pm Homework Help 
4:45 – 5:30 pm Enrichment Classes which include: Music, Art, Computer Skills, Reading & Literacy

5:30pm-6:00pm Clean Up/Pack Up

 

All of our After School Program Activities are held at our RMA Lottsford location

*There is NO late pickup. There will be a charge of $20 per every fifteen minutes after 6 pm.



ENRICHMENT CLASSES


Mondays: Music Mondays (4:45-5:30pm)
On Music Mondays your child will explore all aspects of music. From learning musical instruments to learning popular songs, Music Instructors will assist your child through different multisensory strategies through music.
Tuesdays: Sensory Art (4:45-5:30pm)
Sensory art activities have been shown to produce changes in the brain that reflect improvements in enhanced attention skills and cognition with participants often showing significant gains in emotional awareness, communication, coping, emotional awareness, creative thinking and sensory information processing. Projects are always sensory based and unique- just like our kids!
Wednesdays: Social Skills Groups (4:00-6:00 pm)
Our social skills group gives your child the opportunity to learn different socialization strategies at their own pace with peers. From group activities to our daily lessons, your child will have time to practice new skills and make new friends.
Thursdays: Computer Skills (4:45-5:30pm)
Your child will learn basic computer functions, keyboarding, and develop word processing skills. They will create with a variety of digital tools, begin to use online databases for research, and develop basic OS familiarity. Your child will be able to explore the different realms of teacnology in a fun and engaging way.
Fridays: Reading & Literacy (4:45-5:30pm)
Our Book Club with Reading Instructor helps strengthen your child’s literacy abilities and oral comprehension while making new friends. A new book is read every Friday with a Q & A for knowledge check.
